無神経な飲食店 Uncaring Restaurants

この間海浜幕張駅から、運転免許センターまで歩きましたが、幕張の高層ビル、広い道路、広い遊歩道の美しい街並みに感銘しました。

どの道路、歩行者道もきれいに清掃され、ごみ一つ落ちていませんでした。

それとは反対に、自転車に乗って、テニスに行く途中にコンビニと飲食店が三件並んでいる前を通りますが、ここはいつもごみが散乱しています。

トラックの運転手たちが良くそこに立ち寄って、食事します。

その前の駐車場と歩道にはプラスチックのバッグ、ボトル、弁当箱、紙などのごみがいつも散らばって汚れています。

The other day I walked from the station to the Driving Licence Centre in Makuhari and was impressed by the high-rise buildings and the wide avenues. All of the roads and footpaths were so clean and tidy with not one piece of rubbish on them.

In comparison, going on my bicycle to tennis from home, I pass a place where there are three eating places in a row and that is always a mess. Many truck drivers stop there for a bite to eat. In the parking area there are always plastic bags, bottles, empty lunch boxes and paper strewn about.

浦安市の中いろいろ回ってみてもこれほど汚れたところはありません。

ゴミを投げる人々も悪いですが、どうしてその飲食店の人たちは店の前が、汚れていても掃除をしないのでしょうか。

ゴミを拾わないのでしょうか。

またはごみ箱を設置しないのでしょうか。

あれだけ汚れていれば、その前を通る人々は店のことをよく思わないでしょう。

ゴミを拾うのに30分とかからないでしょう。

ゴミが落ちていることの少ない日本では珍しい状況です。

飲食店の店長をはじめ従業員の無神経さに驚きます。

I have been to many places within our city but nowhere else is such a mess. The patrons of the eating places are to blame but I also wonder why the workers in the shops do not clean up the area. Why don`t they pick up the rubbish? Why don`t they provide rubbish bins?

Those passing by will not have a good impression of the shops. Surely it would only take 30 minutes to pick up the rubbish. It is a very rare sight in Japan where there is so little rubbish lying around. I am surprised at the attitude of the shops` managers and workers.
